Description:

The Public Works Department is looking for condition inspections of the River Intake Pump Station intake pipes and wetwell interior as follows:

Intake Pipes
The Contractor is to complete an inspection of the exterior and interior of two existing intake pipes.  The twin submerged pipes extend between the River Intake Pump Station wetwell and intake points within the Muskwa River channel.  Refer to the attached record drawings for approximate details of the pump station and intakes.

The purpose of the inspection is to confirm the following: type and condition of interior and exterior pipe coating (if applicable), pipe wall condition, pipe diameter, location and type of any joints or stubs along the length of each pipe, and confirmation of pipe end type (expecting plain ends in river, and flanged ends at pump station).

It is anticipated that the inspection work will be completed using divers, a rover camera, or a combination of the two.

The contractor shall deliver a detailed written report that summarizes observations made during the inspection, as well as complete supporting video/photo data.

Wetwell

The Contractor is to complete an inspection and detailed photo record of the River Intake Pump Station wetwell interior, including all internal components (valves, piping, steel supports and platforms) and with particular focus on two existing butterfly valves located on the intake pipes.  Refer to the attached record drawings for approximate details of the pump station.

Access to the wetwell requires a confined space entry procedure and coordination with NRRM.  The portion of the wetwell below the internal platform will require the use of divers to inspect, as the wetwell cannot be isolated and will have an internal water level equal to that of the Muskwa River (i.e. the intake pipes and butterfly valves will be submerged during inspection work).

For each butterfly valve the Contractor is to confirm the following: exterior condition of coating and fasteners, connection type between the valve and the outlet pipe stub, and overall condition of the joint connection to help determine the feasibility of connecting a replacement valve to the existing pipe stub.

For the remainder of the wetwell components, the contractor shall note all pipe/valve sizes, take detailed photos of each component, and also take detailed photos of the interior wetwell structure (corrugated steel plate) noting any particular areas where corrosion or damage is visible.

The contractor shall deliver a detailed written report that summarizes observations made during the inspection, as well as complete supporting video/photo data.

Optional Scope: Wastewater Outfall

In addition to the above scope, please include pricing for the following work for consideration:

The Contractor is to complete an inspection of the existing wastewater outfall assembly located within the Muskwa River, roughly 350 m northeast of the River Intake Pump Station.  The outfall assembly consists of a series of diffuser valves surrounded by concrete lock blocks and a sheet pile wall.  Refer to the attached record drawings for details of the in-river portion of the outfall.

The purpose of the inspection is to confirm the condition of the twelve (12) diffuser valve assemblies, which consist of duck-bill style check valves extending out of a buried manifold.  Additionally, the inspection is to include observations within and around the perimeter of the lock block and sheet pile walls, specifically looking for localized scour points or sinkholes within the riverbed.

It is anticipated that the inspection work will be completed using divers, a rover camera, or a combination of the two.

The contractor shall deliver a detailed written report that summarizes observations made during the inspection, as well as complete supporting video/photo data.
