The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality’s Building Bylaw No.111, 2015 was adopted in 2015 to incorporate aspects of the former Northern Rockies Regional District Building Bylaw and the Town of Fort Nelson Building Bylaw. The 2015 version of the bylaw was completed using the standard MIABC template. It has been noted that aspects of the current bylaw are lacking and, in some instances, contradictory to the NRRM Zoning Bylaw No.119, 2016. With ever-changing aspects of the BC Building Code and a rising focus on the construction of greener buildings, the NRRM is looking to update the Building Bylaw to make allowances for those aspects as well as development growth in the future. Review and incorporation of necessary aspects of the Building Act and the Architects Act will be a consideration and reference to requirements for Registered Professional submissions on complex projects. Preferred updates would propose improved enforcement tools, the addition of a more efficient fee structure, and the development of a resource library. 

The project must be complete by April 30, 2025.
